Where the Samoyed comes from

Samoyeds were bred by the Samoyedic people of northern Siberia to herd reindeer, pull sleds and keep people warm. Their white coat and smiling face are unmistakable.

Personality and daily life

Friendly, gentle and talkative. Samoyeds love people and are good with children, but they are not guard dogs and may bark a lot.

Samoyeds are smiley, social and fluffy. They shed a lot and prefer cool weather.

Exercise, grooming and health

An hour or more of exercise, ideally in cool weather. The thick double coat needs brushing several times a week and sheds heavily. Heart and eye issues occur.
